Voice Acting Certificate
I’m sure we’re all familiar with the frequent referral to “the Voice of the Silent Majority”. A term we often use to excuse our own inability to “make a difference” or just simply to describe the reality of the fact that it takes too many people wanting the same thing, acting in unison to adequately manage the functions of our society. Whatever it is, it is rarely (if ever) heard.
It came close, I’m sure on Dec. 7, 1941. It came close again on Sep. 11, 2001. One could turn to, essentially, anyone at that time and be confident of the outcome in expressions of opposition to terrorism. But barring such catastrophic events, what makes us come together as a “majority” and “speak out”?
It certainly isn’t the exorbitant “pork” spending and debt accumulation of our government. It’s not the hypocritical actions of our elected officials who, on the one hand, ask us to sacrifice….be patient…..accept hardships, etc. while they continue to lavishly squander away our resources on extravagant modes of travel, extravagant meetings at resorts, and the like. It’s not the improper yet quiet, sympathetic tolerance that we express when we allow elected officials to remain in office despite otherwise incapacitating illnesses…. even to the detriment of our common good. Certainly its not, when the government (through the unions) threatens to abolish any of our civil rights by taking away our ability to vote by secret ballot. All of these things just aggravate us and slowly erode our democratic principles, but they obviously don’t awaken the “Voice of the Silent Majority”.
Hypothetically, the only helpful partial solution, I would propose is to have some way of utilizing “The Court of Public Opinion”. Yes, you’ve heard of that. It’s done at the ballot box. But, then when most of the jurors don’t show up or won’t listen to the evidence…….what is left?
